The Jeep Brand’s “Portraits” Takes Top Automotive Spot in 2016 Annual YouTube AdBlitz™ Poll:

  • "Portraits" awarded Super Clio Creative Bowl Winner
  • "Portraits" named Adweek's number one Super Bowl spot

February 16, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The YouTube AdBlitzTM 2016 results were announced this morning (2/12), with the Jeep brand taking the top automotive spot with its awarded "Portraits" spot. ("Portraits" took the #6 overall position out of 74 total commercials voted upon in the annual poll).

Jeep brand's "Portraits" was also named Adweek's number one Super Bowl spot. "Giving viewers something thoughtful, and beautiful - with inspiring craft - can make a lasting impression at the circus of advertising's biggest night," wrote Adweek's Tim Nudd.

"Portraits" has become one of the most critically lauded commercials during this year's big game. In addition to YouTube AdBlitzTM poll and the Adweek honor, "Portraits" won this year's Super Clio Creative Bowl Winner. Rob Reilly, Super Clio commissioner and McCann Worldgroup's Global Creative Chairman told Adweek's Tim Nudd: "I liked the restraint it showed for the Super Bowl, to not use the typical tricks. Jeep could have easily shown driving footage or something similar, but they chose to show very little product and tell a great story."

"Achieving the number one automotive spot in the YouTube AdBlitz Poll the last five of six years is a remarkable achievement for FCA and a wonderful acknowledgment of our entire creative team's efforts," said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer - FCA Global. "This work is above all things the product of FCA's shared culture of leadership. 'Portraits' speaks directly to how we are given the freedom to experiment and to challenge conventions. The recognition that 'Portraits' has received from both viewers and those within the creative industry only serves to reinforce that we are on the right path. Making a difference has been and will always be our North Star."

The quiet, evocative "Portraits" spot, featuring more than 60 curated images, is a nod to the past and an acknowledgment to the many people, faces and moments that have shaped the history of the brand beginning in 1941, with a simple message, "We don't make Jeep, you do," which recognizes the global truth that the rightful ownership of the brand resides within its worldwide community of fans, followers and drivers.

The New Yorker took note of the feel-good nature of "Portraits" writing, " ... Jeep's minute-long celebration of its 75-year history, which featured a slide show of black-and-white photographs showing Jeep drivers ranging from mud-streaked G.I.s to Steve McQueen to Aretha Franklin, hit a sweet spot of nostalgia and brand loyalty. (It was also one of the few ads that wasn't released online before the game.)"

Also, said AutoGuide.com, "WINNER: Jeep - 'Portraits' tugs at our heart strings, really zones in on Jeep's historical importance in the military, and makes us feel patriotic. A poignant and effective spot."

Web traffic for Jeep.com and its respective vehicles from Sunday, February 7 through Monday, February 8 (versus January 2016 daily average) saw the following increases:

  • Site Traffic/LFA (lower funnel activity):  160k/41k (+17%/+6%); biggest spike in BMO (build my own) 22K/12% Lift
  • 32% Computer/53% Mobile/15% Tablet share of traffic; January average for Mobile was 43%
  • 2,371 Visits to 75th Anniversary Landing Page
  • Wrangler VLP (vehicle landing page) Traffic/Lift 25K (+28%)
  • Wrangler Unlimited VLP (vehicle landing page) Traffic/Lift 29K/23%

The Jeep brand saw a 76 percent increase in traffic from the daily average on www.Edmunds.com.

KBB.com Karl Brauer, senior analyst for Kelley Blue Book, said, "the Jeep brand also scored high among car shoppers (up 99 percent) with its two heritage-focused ads celebrating the brand's 75-year anniversary."

Previous YouTube AdBlitzTM recognition for the company's commercials include FIAT's "The Fiat 500X Blue Pill" (2015); Dodge brand's "Wisdom" (2015); Jeep brand's "Beautiful Lands" (2015); Chrysler brand's "America's Import" featuring Bob Dylan (2014); Ram brand's "Farmer" (2013) featuring the voice of legendary radio broadcaster Paul Harvey; "Halftime in America" with Clint Eastwood (2012), and "Born of Fire (Imported From Detroit)" with Eminem (2011).

YouTube AdBlitzTM is the premier destination to watch, vote for and share every "must see" commercial from the big game. Winners of the AdBlitzTM represent the most popular commercials from the game that viewers choose to watch and vote for on YouTube.

A special Camp Jeep® to celebrate 75 years of history and the Owners Group

  • Third edition of the largest Jeep Owners Group event to occur in Spain from June 2nd - 5th
  • A special edition of the Camp to celebrate the birthday of the brand born on June 5th, 1941;
  • Jeep Trailcat and Jeep Comanche, two amazing Moab Easter Jeep Safari concept vehicles to première at the Camp;
  • Surprise concert with International Artist;
  • 75th Anniversary special models available, with historical vehicles and Mopar concept cars;
  • A full program of 'Jeep & Fun Activities' and trails with various levels of difficulty;
  • Additional information available at https://ownersgroup.jeep.com/camp-jeep.

The third Camp Jeep®, the annual gathering for Jeep Owners Group (JOG) members and enthusiasts from across Europe will take place on June 2-5 in Bassella, in the heart of Lleida, Spain. Dates were chosen to celebrate the birthday of the brand on June 5th, remembering when in 1941, the first Willys MA rolled off the assembly line.
Being the largest single-brand 4x4 customer event in Europe, Camp Jeep is a tribute to the owners of the world's most famous 4x4 vehicle and this special 'Jubilee edition' represents the celebration of  the icon brand that pioneered new segments and new models within the SUV industry.

Launched in August 2014, the JOG is 'the one and only' official fan club, run centrally by the brand, and is now active in 24 countries across the EMEA region with 64,000 members.
This year, around 400 Jeep vehicles and over 2,500 Jeep enthusiasts are expected to take part in the four days of 4x4 adventure, freedom and outdoor activities in a pure "Jeep Jamboree" style.
In the United States, Jamborees are actually get-togethers dedicated to 4x4 driving, to live the emotional side of the big Jeep family, offering the chance to enjoy the adventurous spirit and the unique 4x4 capability of the legendary iconic brand in nature's wilderness.

Since 1953, when the first Jamboree was organised on the legendary Rubicon Trail in the Sierra Nevada mountains, these events have been an important part of the brand's heritage creating the concept of social networking, before the first social network was officially invented. Participants of Camp Jeep will test the 'go-anywhere, do-anything' capabilities of their Jeep vehicles in a unique and scenic environment and share their experiences with other enthusiasts.

But this special year required a special happening and for the very first time, two of the most amazing concept cars ever created for the Moab Easter Jeep Safari will cross the Atlantic and join the Camp Jeep in Spain. These two hero vehicles will be the functional Jeep Comanche and the high performance Jeep Trailcat, two unique concept cars created for the 50th edition of the Easter Jeep Safari, the 4x4 driving event attracting each year thousands of diehard off-road enthusiasts to Moab (Utah). Nodding to Jeep pickup trucks of the past, the Renegade based Comanche concept vehicle takes styling cues from military and civilian Jeep heritage models, while the Jeep Trailcat concept car is an high performance off-road vehicle featuring a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V-8 engine with 707-horsepower.

While attendees of Camp Jeep will bring their own vehicles, the new 75th Anniversary special editions created to celebrate the brand's 75 years of history, will be showcased to all participants for the first time after their reveal at the recent Geneva Auto Show. Guests will also have the chance to learn about, and drive the entire Jeep range including Grand Cherokee, the most awarded SUV ever, the iconic Wrangler, Renegade, the compact SUV that boasts the best off-road performance in its segment and Cherokee, the unique combination of legendary Jeep 4x4 capability and cutting-edge design.

All the master pieces of Jeep concept cars and Moparized vehicles will be also showcased during the four-day 2016 Camp Jeep.  In addition, and to enhance Jeep's legendary heritage linking the models of today to those of yesterday, several special historical vehicles will be on display at Camp Jeep: the unstoppable 1941 Willys-Overland MB, the 1946 Willys Wagon, the industry's first "sport-utility" vehicle and the  1963 Jeep Wagoneer, the first "Premium Large SUV".

Participants will have access to all Camp Jeep's activities, including off-road driving in three dedicated areas with trails stretching across almost 50 km of the location and presenting different levels of difficulty and duration, as well as Jeep Academy coaching.
Besides off-road driving, a wide range of activities will be offered at Camp Jeep, such as canoeing, beach volley and even yoga and Flamenco courses. Last but not least, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the brand, a surprise international artist will perform on stage, as the final moment of celebration.

Jeep Trailcat

The Jeep Trailcat concept vehicle is the ultimate off-road machine, equally at home on Moab's rugged trails or a high-speed section. Utilizing the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V-8 engine, and mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a custom shifter ball featuring an embossed Hellcat logo, the Trailcat concept vehicle leaves everything else in a cloud of dust.
To get the 707-horsepower Hellcat engine into the Trailcat, designers stretched the wheelbase an additional 12 inches while chopping the windshield two inches for a sleeker look. Mopar exterior enhancements include a power-dome vented hood, Satin Black grille, LED headlamps and fog lamps and rock rails.
The robust off-road look is further aided by steel front and rear bumpers, 17-inch beadlock wheels and 39.5-inch BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX tires, front and rear Dana 60 axles and Fox shocks.
Subtle design cues, such as a Hellcat decal on the front quarter panels and a "Trailcat" decal on the side of the hood, hint at the horsepower that lurks beneath, making this much more than a typical production Wrangler. The Trailcat's interior is simple yet functional and features sport bucket seats from the Dodge Viper, made from carbon fiber and featuring Katzkin leather seat covers with accent stitching.

Jeep Comanche

Based on the Jeep Renegade, the Jeep Comanche concept vehicle is designed to be off-road ready with practical utility. A nod to Jeep pickup trucks of years past, the Comanche concept takes styling cues from military and civilian Jeep heritage.
The Comanche's "Beige Against the Machine" concept exterior paint is accented with a Satin Black hood, a concept lower front fascia, winch, steel rear bumper, soft top and spare tire in the bed. The wheelbase has been stretched an additional six inches versus a production Renegade to accommodate Comanche's 5-foot bed.
Inside, the Comanche features custom seat covers, pedal covers, door sill guards and Mopar all-weather mats. Jeep Performance Parts like off-road rock rails, a 2-inch lift kit and a winch bolster the Comanche's off-road capability. The Comanche rolls on 16-inch painted wheels and 32-inch BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A tires.
The Jeep Comanche is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel I-4 engine and mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission with Jeep Active Drive Lock, which includes low range and a locking rear differential.

  • Jeep® will be leading the celebrations for the fifth championship title won by Juventus in a row.
  • The year was an extraordinary one for Jeep as well, with the brand scoring its best quarter ever in Europe.
  • A winning union of two teams, both with a great history, to celebrate the seventy-five years of Jeep

Juventus has won the Serie A 2015-2016 soccer championship in Italy with three days to go. Proudly sported on their jerseys was Jeep, the brand that has accompanied the champions as Official Sponsor for four seasons, sharing a past made of authenticity, passion and capability to overcome all challenges.

It is a successful meeting of two brands each with a glorious past. Jeep is the pioneer of new segments and new technologies: the brand invented the first 4WD in 1941 with the Willys-Overland and the first Sport Utility Vehicle with the Willys Wagon in 1946. These legendary seventy-five years will be celebrated with the new 75th Anniversary special editions offered on the entire lineup. Juventus, founded in 1897, boasts an impressive prize record of national and international cups and is Italy's major club counting forty-one million fans in Europe and some three hundred million worldwide.

Jeep, on the other hand, is experiencing another extraordinary season: after the remarkable results achieved in 2015, the successful trend is being reconfirmed again in 2016 making March the twenty-ninth month of consecutive growth in Europe. This is further proof that for brands like Jeep and Juventus success is the starting point for new challenges to be won with the usual determination and dedication.

“Jeep® Freedom Days Event”: the initiative to discover the “75th Anniversary” celebratory range:

  • From May 1st to June 30th, the second edition of the great Jeep® event takes place in 25 countries in the EMEA region, with exclusive promotions for each model and market.
  • Starring the limited edition "75th Anniversary" celebratory range.
  • The current TV ad features the current Jeep range and the legendary 1941 Willys-Overland: the legend continues.

After the success of the first 2015 edition, Jeep® launched their second "Freedom Days Event" that, from May 1st to June 30th, will involve all Jeep dealerships in 25 countries in the EMEA region, with similar formats-in terms of image, advertising and trims-but with exclusive promotions custom-made for each market.

After all, this second edition of "Jeep Freedom Days Event" takes place during an especially important period for the US brand: indeed, on June 5th 1941, the first legendary Willys-Overland MB, the progenitor of all Jeep SUVs, came off production lines. Since then, the desire for adventure never changed.

The star of this pan-European event could only be the "75th Anniversary" special series, a celebratory limited edition range produced in the EMEA region, and available in Wrangler, Renegade, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee models. All vehicles stand out for their special livery, "75th Anniversary" badge, bronze-colored rims, bronze/tangerine exterior inserts and exclusive interiors featuring seats with the embossed "75th Anniversary" logo. Gradually marketed starting in Q2 with different scheduling in each country, these special editions boast of generous standard equipment and, obviously, excellent Jeep technology, in terms of mechanics, off-road capabilities and more.

"Jeep Freedom Days Event" will also offer the opportunity, for a limited time, to access exclusive promotions-made specially for each market-throughout the Jeep range: from the Grand Cherokee, the most awarded SUV ever; to the iconic Wrangler, which embodies the "Go anywhere, Do anything" claim; to the Cherokee, the Jeep with a cutting-edge design true to tradition; to the new Renegade, the compact SUV with the best off-road performance in its segment.

Additionally, like all big events, the "Jeep Freedom Days Event" will come with a new and thrilling advertising campaign-on TV, radio, web and print-that highlights the values shared by the various Jeep models that allowed the brand to be a pioneer in new segments and technologies, as well as a star in the evolution of how SUVs are used: from an unstoppable war machine, to a faithful working partner in the country; from a recreational family vehicle, to a premium car for city customers.

In the TV commercial, in particular, all Jeep models of the range are present, including the unstoppable Willis-Overland of 1941, driving from a wild landscape to a city center. With all these impressive images, the brand celebrates its 75th anniversary and at the same time continues the adventure started in 1941: the Jeep legend continues.

The Jeep® brand: pioneering new models and segments

  • Nine key vehicles mark fundamental stages in the history of the legendary Jeep® brand
  • From utility to recreational: a true pioneer in terms of ability to anticipate market trends
  • The first stage of a gripping "journey" exploring the Jeep brand, which will be enhanced by new texts, photos and videos every month. The next episode will be devoted to the iconic Wrangler

The Jeep® brand history can be traced through 9 fundamental vehicles that not only marked milestones in the Jeep legend, but also allowed to have a pioneering role in terms of introduction of new models and segments in the automotive industry.
These 9 milestone models showcase how the Jeep brand has been a key player in the evolution of the SUV industry and of its sub-segments. From 1941, when the first Willys-Overland rolled off the assembly line to today, the 'Jeep' vehicles have been transformed into a faithful work companion in farmhouses, recreational family vehicle and premium car for city customers, anticipating the needs of the customers and introducing important elements of innovation in the market place.

The Jeep legend starts with the Willys-Overland MA/MB (1941-1945). In 1940, with war raging in Europe, the U.S. Government issued a requisition for a 'light reconnaissance vehicle' for the Army and invited 135 manufacturers to bid on production. Willys-Overland won the contract with its "MA" design of 1941 (where 'M' stands for military and 'A' indicates the series number). This early prototype led to the production of the Overland MB: the authentic forerunner of the Jeep legend. Willys trademarked the name after the war and turned the Jeep into an off-road civilian utility vehicle for the farm.
With the 1945-1949 Jeep CJ-2A, the Jeep brand introduced the first modern mass production off-road vehicle, (where CJ stays for Civilian Jeep) and in the same years found inspiration to create the first SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), thanks to the launch of the (Jeep) Willys  Wagon (1946-1965).
First introduced in 1946, the Willys Wagon made an important contribution to the evolution of the SUV, being the industry's first all-steel-bodied station wagon, sold as a non-commercial vehicle. Featuring room for 7 passengers, the Wagon also introduced the concept of a multifunctional sports vehicle, offering functionality, versatility and 4x4 capability, all in the same package. In 1949, the four-wheel drive system was introduced for the first time to this model, allowing to combine for the first time four-wheel drive to a station wagon body, and therefore to pioneer the category of the Sport utility vehicles.
In 1955, the CJ-5 is launched (1955-1983). Improvements in engines, axles, transmissions and seating comfort contributed to make it the ideal vehicle to satisfy the public's growing interest in off-road vehicles for recreational usage, allowing the brand to pioneer this vehicle category. But a milestone innovation was still to come: when in 1963, the Jeep Wagoneer (1963-1983) was launched, the brand could proudly claim the creation of the premium Large SUV. An all-new vehicle from the ground up, the Wagoneer represented also the first time a manufacturer mated an automatic transmission to the four-wheel-drive system. And this was not the only revolution. The Jeep Wagoneer was also the first four-wheel-drive vehicle equipped with an independent front suspension and it also featured the first automatic full-time four-wheel-drive system (Quadra-Trac®) introduced in 1973. Later in 1984, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (1984-1991) was introduced, replacing the Wagoneer. This model  became a premium lifestyle vehicle, popular with celebrities and the general public until the end of its run.

In 1974, the first Cherokee model (SJ  -1974-1983) is produced. This two-door off-road vehicle was based on the Wagoneer, without offering all premium features of that model. Indeed, the Cherokee aimed at attracting a younger public than the Wagoneer and was built to answer the requests of the growing recreational vehicle market.  A next major step in the evolution of the Jeep SUV came with the launch of the second generation of Cherokee in 1984 (XJ - 1984-2001).With this model, that was the first SUV with a uni body, the Jeep brand introduced a further revolution in the market and created the new category of the compact SUVs .
The last step taken from the Jeep brand was to reinvent the SUV that it had created almost 45 years before. With its introduction in mid-1992, the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee model set a new standard in terms of craftsmanship and refinement in the premium Large SUV market. This vehicle, meant to become the flagship of the brand, was the first SUV to be equipped with a standard driver-side air bag, as well as the first to offer three different four-wheel-drive systems. Another major feature was the Quadra-Trac, a four-wheel-drive system that reacted automatically to road conditions without the driver's need to shift. Grand Cherokee defined in the years the new standard in terms of style, craftsmanship and performance in the premium Large SUV segment. Through three generations of Grand Cherokee (1999, 2005 and 2010), the Jeep brand enhanced its flagship with new technological features and refined its on and off-road driving performance to reach the excellence of the current model.

Technological innovation is also the hallmark of the Jeep models that were introduced after the Grand Cherokee. As a matter of fact, in 2013 with the launch of the new generation of Jeep Cherokee, the Jeep brand introduced the first rear axle disconnect in the mid-size SUV segment. This system reduces energy losses when it is not necessary to use the 4x4 mode, thus resulting in increased fuel efficiency. The new Cherokee is also the first mid-size SUV to feature a 9-speed automatic transmission. One year later the same technological innovations - rear axle disconnect and 9-speed gearbox - was introduced in the small SUV segment by the all-new Jeep Renegade, the compact SUV the marks the debut of the brand in the small SUV category. A 'game changer' as it has been defined, the Renegade fully represent the new 'Jeep era' and further confirm the brand's pioneering role in the automotive history and its capability to anticipate trends and customers' needs.

But this will be all in a new chapter of our 'journey' of exploration of the legendary Jeep brand.

Stay tuned!

Jeep Skills: the application that measures driving performance:

  • A first in the SUV segment, making its debut at Camp Jeep® on the Jeep Renegade.
  • Feedback on the driving performance and on the car in real time.
  • Information to be shared with the Jeep community.

The Jeep® brand debuted Jeep Skills, the innovative application developed to provide customers with real time information on their driving performance, at the third edition of Camp Jeep, that took place June 2 to 5 in Bassella, Spain.

A first in the 4x4 and 4x2 SUV category, Jeep Skills is available only on the Renegade in combination with the Uconnect 6.5" Radio Nav LIVE system.

The new application allows drivers to measure their driving performance, test their abilities on specific off-road courses and share their awards (badges) with other drivers in the Jeep Community via Twitter or the new Uconnect LIVE social platform.

By using Jeep Skills, customers can also learn about the off-road capabilities of the Jeep Renegade, better understand what it is able to do, and therefore fully exploit its potential. The pitch of the car, as well as the acceleration, braking, G force, position of the wheels and their slipping can be monitored in real time on the Uconnect 6.5" Radio Nav LIVE touchscreen so control is more direct and awareness is greater behind the wheel.

Accessing the new services is simple. All users have to do is go to the main menu and select from Uconnect LIVE, the new Jeep Skills application available in addition to Facebook | Check-In, Twitter, Deezer and the other functionalities Uconnect LIVE offers.

Jeep Skills lets users browse a number of pages. When choosing "Off Road", they can get feedback on their driving style and performance in real time through a set of specific parameters, including drive, roll, pitch, pressure and altitude. The "Gages" section, additionally, provides information on the battery level, oil pressure, temperature and steering angle. The data shown in "Dynamic" refer to G force, pressure on the acceleration/brakes, engine oil and water temperature. Lastly, information on performance, such as 0-50 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration, braking distance and speed are available on the "Timers" page.

When drivers select their favorite itineraries from the "Routes" menu, they can start their driving experience by viewing the selected course, accessing helpful information on that particular course and displaying their best driving performance among all those stored.

"My itineraries" instead offers the possibility to cover and record a personal route and call it up whenever needed. In that way, drivers can put themselves on the line and test their skills on their favorite off-road routes, send them to be judged by the Jeep Community to then extend them to all Jeep Skills users.

Based on driving performance and goals attained while driving along the recommended courses, drivers can receive an official award (badge). All awards won will be displayed on the "Badges" page, just like a virtual 'showcase'. Badges that can be won include: JEEPER, received the first time Jeep Skills is accessed; EXPLORER, won by sending a personal route for the opinion of the Jeep Community; and lastly, SPORT CLUB MAGGIORA, which is achieved when entering the Pragiarolo di Maggiora circuit, mapped as recommended trail. Every driver can then share awards won on Twitter and/or the Uconnect LIVE platform.

Thanks to Jeep Skills, the driving experience reaches a totally new level to make both the journey and off-roading on board the Renegade a unique and even more enjoyable, safer and better connected adventure. Jeep Skills is available across Europe on the Limited and Trailhawk trim levels of Jeep Renegade equipped with Uconnect Radio Nav LIVE 6.5'' ordered starting June 2.

Jeep® Wrangler, an iconic Hero:

  • A vehicle that marked the history of the brand and of the industry.
  • A symbol of 4x4 and off-road capability, functionality and open-air design.
  • From the Willys, a timeless design that always remained true to itself.

This year the Jeep® brand is celebrating 75 years of legendary off-road capability, outdoor adventures and open-air freedom, all of which are best expressed by its iconic Jeep® Wrangler. The name Wrangler means a cowboy in charge of saddle horses, reminding immediately the huge outdoors of the American Far West and the sense of freedom that this inspires.

In the Jeep language, Wrangler is actually a 'fun and freedom machine', which reflects through its character the lifestyle of its customers, oriented towards original and distinctive cars with a strong personality. When someone owns a Wrangler, everyone knows that he is ready to explore and follow the adventurous spirit, that he is ready to have fun with his car and above all that he is not at all afraid to drive into the mud. Wrangler best expresses the customers' endless possibilities of customization, being the most customized Jeep vehicle worldwide.

The Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited line-up is offered with a choice of three configurations: Sport, Sahara and Rubicon. The powertrain range includes a diesel and a petrol engine: the 2.8-liter common rail turbo-diesel delivering  200 hp of power and 460 Nm of torque and the powerful 3.6-liter V-6 petrol engine with 284 hp and 347 Nm, both paired to the five-speed automatic transmission.

Engineered to master the most challenging off-road tracks, today Jeep Wrangler is the result of 75 years of leadership in the development of 4x4 systems. Two are the 4x4 systems available on the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited: Command-Trac part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio and Rock-Trac equipped only on the Rubicon, a two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio, Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers and an electronic sway bar disconnect which delivers additional wheel travel for traversing the toughest trails.
Wrangler's body on frame structure and suspension geometry, a multilink front and rear suspension with trailing arms, guarantee exceptional off-road performance, in addition to aggressive approach/ departure /break over angles and outstanding water fording capability and ground clearance.  Wrangler's prowess is certified with a Trail Rated Jeep badge, verifying that the vehicle is able to perform in a variety of challenging off road conditions identified by five performance categories: traction, ground clearance, manoeuvrability, articulation and water fording.

The current Wrangler is actually a direct descendant of the original Willys-Overland (1941), and combines off-road capabilities with the fun of the first and only 4x4 open air SUV in the marketplace. It offers the Sunrider® soft top, foldable and removable, the Freedom Top®, a three-piece modular hardtop, and a Dual Top configuration (the latter including both the soft- and hardtop options). Freedom Top features three panels - left and right front-passenger panels and a rear panel - providing the real outdoor driving experience offered by a convertible car. For more a premium appearance, the Sahara models boast an available body-color hardtop. The Rubicon trim level features also a foldable windshield, for a true open air experience.

The Wrangler expresses the most authentic Jeep values and though evolving in terms of off-road driving and functionality, it maintained its unmistakable timeless design. Since its first introduction, Jeep Wrangler has always been keeping its philosophy and style, with the classic round headlamps, seven-slot grille, trapezoidal wheel flares, exposed hinges, fold-down windshield, removable doors and sport bar, hallmarks of the current Wrangler model.

In terms of heritage, Wrangler is universally considered the icon of the Jeep brand, because through its predecessor, the 1941 Willys-Overland, it kicked off the Jeep legend and provided inspiration to what came afterwards, not only in terms of brand's heritage, but also in the history of the automotive industry. The Willys-Overland MB is considered the authentic forerunner of the Jeep legend. Willys trademarked the name after the war and turned the MB model into an off-road civilian utility vehicle called CJ-2A (where CJ stays for Civilian Jeep). The CJ model was mass produced in 1945 and was also called "Agri-Jeep", nodding to its original usage in farmhouses in North America as utility vehicle and 'working' tool. The CJ series were produced for thirty years and through the different models that were launched in the period from 1946 to 1986, contributed to the transformation of the Jeep models from utility vehicles to life-style vehicles.

In 1986, the first generation of Wrangler - the YJ - was launched replacing the CJ series. This new vehicle had a wider track, angled grille, rectangular headlights and a more modern interior. It answered the requests of the growing market for compact four-wheel-drive vehicles that although still seeking the practical characteristics of the Jeep CJ series, also asked for "comforts" found in passenger cars.
The second generation of Wrangler, the TJ, was introduced  in 1997. Although the TJ looked very similar to the CJ-7, it was very different from a mechanical standpoint. Nearly 80 percent of the vehicle parts were newly designed. The TJ introduced  a "Quadra-Coil" suspension, a four-link coil suspension, replacing the previous leaf springs, providing a greatly improved on road performance. Off-road capabilities were enhanced with increased ground clearance and more aggressive approach and departure angles. The all-new 1997 Jeep won the prestigious 4x4 of the year award in US. The TJ retained several classic Jeep features, such as round headlamps, a fold-down windshield and removable doors as well as a choice of a soft top or removable hard top. A factory-fitted sport bar was also standard.

In 2003, after the legendary trail name in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Wrangler Rubicon trim level was launched to enhance the benchmark off-road capabilities of the model and represent the most rugged and capable Wrangler. The Rubicon dedicated off-road equipment ensured best-in class off-road performances and included  the push-button-actuated locking front and rear axles, a specific 4x4 system with three differentials, 4:1 low-range transfer case and many more options not available on any production Jeep before it.

The current Jeep Wrangler (JK) was introduced in 2007, adding to the successful, original Jeep formula an all-new frame, exterior and interior design, diesel and petrol engines and additional safety and convenience features. In 2011, all-new interiors with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials were introduced on all Wrangler models while the Sahara trim level received a new, more premium  body-color hardtop to provide a more refined appearance. A choice of three different roof options was also offered to convey the open-air driving experience delivered by a unique convertible car.
With the third generation a four-door model - the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - was introduced in the European line-up, offering more refined on-road comfort as well as even more versatility. With a 52 cm-longer wheelbase, room for five adult passengers and the most cargo space ever available in a Wrangler, the Unlimited offered seamless integration between Jeep legendary off-road capabilities and the roominess and versatility of a car for every day driving.

The Jeep® brand reveals exclusive Renegade ‘Hell’s Revenge’ show car by Garage Italia Customs :

  • The unique 'Hell's Revenge' show car by Garage Italia Customs (GIC) is making its debut at the Harley-Davidson® 25th European H.O.G. Rally on June 16-19 in Portoroz, Slovenia.
  • Based on the Renegade model, the Hell's Revenge enhances the values of passion, freedom and adventure shared by the Jeep® and the Harley-Davidson® brands.

The Jeep® brand is the main sponsor at the 25th anniversary of the iconic Harley-Davidson® event held in Portoroz, Slovenia from today to June 19th. Free and open to all riders and with an expected attendance of thousands of Harley-Davidson riders, enthusiasts and friends, the event is an unmissable highlight on the Harley-Davidson® calendar. For the occasion, the Jeep brand - that is partnering with Harley-Davidson for the third year running and offering branded hospitality and test drives at each of its EMEA based events - will be debuting the unique Jeep Renegade Hell's Revenge show car created by Garage Italia Customs (GIC).

Based on the Renegade model, the Hell's Revenge is a tribute to Harley owners and to all bikers who share the same values and lifestyle and confirms the strong affinities between the two brands.

The Hell's Revenge also represents a further step in the collaboration between the Jeep brand and Garage Italia Customs, which started last year with the two Renegade show cars customized by GIC for the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Having devised various concepts, the Design Centre of the Lapo Elkann creative hub identified flames as the key element of the personalization to represent passion, a main value in both the Harley and Jeep worlds.
Moving from the virtual to the real world, four layers of a matte paint base and fluorescent flames were applied on the vehicle's body, protected by a special transparent layer for fluo paint. The intense colour of the new livery has an immediate impact and recalls the particular airbrushing technique used on motorcycle tanks. Flames can also be found on the interior, thanks to the special painting of the dashboard. The seats, on the other hand, boast Foglizzo Nappa leather and black denim.

The Hell's Revenge is a Renegade which has been personalized in every detail to follow the tastes of fans of the custom-made. To ensure the capability of tackling and overcoming any obstacle, the show car features special technical equipment including a personalized skid plate, a suspension lift kit and special alloy rims combined with modified BF Goodrich tyres. Completing the unique look of the Hell's Revenge are two LED spotlights on the windscreen, fitted with specific supports purposely created by the expert craftsmen at Garage Italia Customs.

To further highlight the affinity between the Jeep and Harley-Davidson worlds, on Saturday the Hell's Revenge show car will open the spectacular parade of bikes that is hallmark of each Harley-Davidson rally as also the most exciting moment of the Portoroz program.

For the second year running, the Jeep® brand is the global partner of the World Surf League and will be at the side of the surfers that are competing in the prestigious WSL men's and women's 2016 Championship Tour (CT). After the first competitions in Australia, Brazil and Fiji, the Tour and its champions will soon arrive in South Africa to take part in the J-Bay Open on July 6th - 17th, the first of four events to be held in the EMEA region this season.

The full calendar of competitions scheduled to take place in EMEA in 2016 include: the Cascais Women's Pro in Portugal (September 24 - October 2, 2016), the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro France (Hossegor, October 4 - 15, 2016) and the Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal (Peniche, October 18 - 29, 2016).

The iconic Jeep Wrangler and the compact SUV Jeep Renegade will be spotlighted throughout the tour and will be available for exclusive shuttle services, as well as for on-site test-drives at all European locations. At each leg, the "Jeep Lounge," a dedicated, branded area, will be set up in the Sponsors' Village to allow visitors and surf enthusiasts to book a test drive on both models and collect information on the complete Jeep range.

The partnership with the World Surf League (WSL) - a global agreement that sees the Jeep brand as the WSL's exclusive automotive Global Partner - was established last year with the scope of further strengthening the connection with the world of surfing.

Indeed, surfing embodies the brand's core values and the spirit of freedom, passion and adventure that distinguish all models in the Jeep range.  Both Jeep and the WSL share a common purpose of being perfectly at one with the environment and with nature, and the desire to go beyond the limits to live unique experiences. This is the fascination of surfing, which is not just a dynamic sport, but a distinctive lifestyle shared by all surfers as well as Jeep owners and fans, who are always ready to follow the adventurous spirit, have fun with their cars and are not afraid to tackle the most extreme and hostile terrains in the same way surfers challenge the forces of the sea.

To further enhance the strong affinity with surfing, during all the competitions held in the EMEA region, the public will be able to take part in "Jeep Ride," a game available on the Jeep-people platform at www.jeep-people.com. Debuting at the  J-Bay Open, Jeep Ride will involve players in a unique adventure on the beach on board the iconic Jeep Wrangler, the compact SUV Jeep Renegade and the legendary Willys MB model. Featuring different levels of difficulty and reproducing landscapes found at the various locations of the tour, Jeep Ride has been developed using 3D graphics and technology.

At the end of October, the winner of the Jeep Ride contest will be rewarded a trip to Hawaii to attend the Billabong Pipe Masters, the last stage of the WSL Championship Tour (Oahu, December 8-20) and will have a Jeep Renegade at their disposal during their entire stay.

The Brazilian champion Filipe Toledo and the talented Italian surfer Roberto D'Amico - world-class surfers - are Jeep Ambassadors for 2016.

  • The special edition marking the 50th anniversary of the Festival and the 75th Jubilee of the Jeep® brand to kick off on July 1.
  • Three unique show cars created by Garage Italia Customs and inspired to the Festival are making their debut in Montreux.
  • 30 Jeep vehicles to shuttle performers and international guests such as Muse, Lana Del Rey, Santana, Deep Purple, Neil Young, Simply Red, Van Morrison, Patti Smith, Marcus Miller and Zappa.

The 50th edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival is ready to kick off on July 1 in the beautiful Swiss town overlooking Lake Geneva and will feature the Jeep® brand, as Global Partner for the second year running. Recognized as one of the most important and prestigious music festivals in Europe, attracting each year visitors and great performers from all over the world, Montreux Jazz Festival will this year be a very special edition, as it celebrates its 50th birthday. A milestone anniversary, which will be even more significant, as it happens at exactly the same time as the Jeep brand celebrates its 75th Jubilee.

To honour the occasion, three unique show cars created for the Jeep brand and based on Grand Cherokee, Renegade and Cherokee will be revealed to the public attending the event. Dedicated to Montreux Jazz Festival, these show cars were produced in collaboration with Garage Italia Customs (GIC) and are inspired by the world of music.

The Jeep brand and the Montreux Jazz Festival stand out in their respective fields. Jeep, with its 75-year history, is a real lifestyle brand and a legend in the automotive sector, while the Montreux Jazz Festival has been at the forefront of music innovation and evolution for the last 50 years. Both brands stand out for the passion, authenticity and quality experience they deliver to their fans and customers and can claim a history of innovation and the ability to pioneer and anticipate trends, while remaining true to their roots.

To shuttle performers and international guests attending the event, the Jeep brand has made an exclusive fleet of 30 vehicles available to the organization, including the flagship Grand Cherokee, the 'most awarded SUV ever', the medium-sized SUV Cherokee, which blends  legendary Jeep 4x4 capabilities with cutting-edge design, and Renegade, the entry to the Jeep range, boasting the best off-road capabilities in its category.

Core of the 2016 partnership are the exclusive Jeep activities scheduled to take place at the branded  locations along the lakeshore, in particular those that will take place at the Jeep Temporary Store and at the Terrace Le Jardin. Located one and half kilometres from the Auditorium area, on the lakeshore, the Jeep Temporary Store  will be the place where visitors can book a test drive of the Jeep range, including the "75th Anniversary" special edition models.

At the Jeep Temporary Store, visitors and Jeep enthusiasts will also be able to interact with the Jeep Vinyl Booth, an immersive music experience offering visitors seven celebratory videos and playlists created by the brand to portray with music and images the key moments in its seven decades of history, starting from 1941. The listening experience will be enriched by the vinyl look and feel of the setting. At the end of the listening experience, visitors will be invited to take a picture and create a vinyl record cover with their face. The same experience will be available on the web thanks to the Vinylize Me App*.

Terrace Le Jardin will be hosting exclusive live performances by selected artists according to the Jeep claim 'Free To Improvise', which perfectly summarizes the essence of Jazz music, as well as the spirit of the Jeep brand and its customers, who are always looking for the adventurous spirit and the freedom to go off the beaten track to live unique experiences on board their 4x4 vehicles. Four live concerts will be performed at the Terrace by four young music talents: the Swiss artist Paul Plexi, winner of the 'Best Jeep Records" competition, launched at the festival last year (and scheduled on July 1); the singer Amy Yon (on July 2); the group King (on July 14) and the duo Funkstörung (on July 16). All these artists although characterized by a distinctive music genre, share a common desire to rock the stage and surprise everyone. All four live gigs will be broadcast live on the Jeep People Facebook page.

Also inspired by the 'Free To Improvise' claim is the advertising campaign produced by the creative team of Leo Burnett to celebrate the partnership between the Jeep brand and Montreux Jazz Festival, as their respective anniversaries. A short video clip, highlighting the concept of freedom to improvise will be broadcast in the Montreux Jazz Cafés across Europe and on the web. This video clip features images of legendary Jeep models on the notes of a jazz motif of the 40s and brings the audience back to the origins of the Jeep brand and of the festival itself, which over the years opened its original formula to welcome several different musical genres.

The same campaign will also been available in print and billboards, in the major stations located in the Swiss town, in order to translate into images the synthesis between music and cars and provide, using the universal language of music, a creative interpretation of the legendary seven-slot grille that is hallmark of Jeep models.

Three exclusive Jeep® show cars by Garage Italia Customs at the 2016 Montreux Jazz Festival :

  • Inspired by the world of music, the show cars celebrate 50 years of the famous musical event.
  • Created on the Cherokee, Renegade and Grand Cherokee models.

From 1967 to date, the Montreux Jazz Festival has welcomed world-famous artists, quickly becoming one of most renowned and appreciated international musical events. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Festival, the Jeep® brand, in collaboration with Garage Italia Customs (GIC), has created three unique show cars inspired by the world of music: the Jeep Cherokee Jazz, the Jeep Renegade Vinyl and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Score.

The Style Centre of Lapo Elkann's creative hub has reinterpreted three key features of the history of the Montreux Jazz Festival and the musical world: the guitar, the vinyl and the score, in a series of "tailor-made" exterior and interior customisations in three unique models. The three one-offs are 'style exercises' and highlight the constant creative quest in terms of technology and materials that characterise every single Garage Italia Customs project.

The Jeep Cherokee Jazz show car is inspired by the musical instrument par excellence, the guitar. The Garage Italia Customs maestros have used wrap-paint, the special customisation technique in which adhesive wrap is applied to the bodywork, to recreate the classic wood veneer of the guitar. The vehicle was first encased in a wood-texture film and then painted with great skill and craftsmanship to achieve a veiled effect that ranges from black at the front to red at the rear and is sufficiently transparent to expose the veining of the wrap. The same veiling is found inside on the Foglizzo leather seats.
The Jeep Cherokee Jazz show car is based on the Limited model and equipped with the 2.2-litre Multijet II 200 HP diesel engine and the 9-speed automatic transmission.

The one-off Jeep Renegade Vinyl is dedicated to vinyl, the symbol of a generation and the emblem of music. The very characteristic of this material, the microgroove, was the starting point of the customisation. The Style Centre decided to recreate the same surface on the bodywork with the application of a 3D-effect double-wrap. The Garage Italia Customs engineers first applied a series of concentric circles on the surface and then a complete electric-blue wrapping. The double-wrap creates a tactile sensation when you run your hand over the bodywork. The Alcantara workmanship completes the unique customisation. Created exclusively for the Jeep brand, it reproduces the design of vinyl even on the seats and backrests that are upholstered in black Foglizzo leather.
The Renegade Vinyl show car is based on the Trailhawk model and is equipped with a 2.0-litre, 170 HP Multijet II turbo diesel engine mated to the 9-speed automatic transmission.

The show car range celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Festival is completed by the elegant Jeep Grand Cherokee Score, created on the Jeep flagship model and featuring special paint work with a shiny brass effect applied on the upper section. The sides present obvious reference to musical scores, with brass-coloured notes painted on a black background. The same motif is taken up again in the cabin, with Foglizzo leather upholstered seats featuring the pentagram on the backrest.
Based on the 75th Anniversary model, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Score is powered by a 3.0-litre Multijet II 250 HP engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Boasting a strong and distinctive look that expresses the passion, authenticity and freedom that is in the Jeep heritage, the three show cars reflect the American brand's natural tendency for customisation. The public can see them at close range at the various festival sites. The Grand Cherokee Score will be on display at the main entrance leading to the Stravinski Auditorium, the most important area at the Festival. While the Cherokee Jazz and the Renegade Vinyl will be displayed at the Jeep Temporary Store.

The three show cars created for the 50th anniversary of the Montreux Jazz Festival represent a step forward in the collaboration between the Jeep brand and Garage Italia Customs initiated last year at the Festival with the creation of two exclusive GIC show cars on the Renegade model. To date 8 Jeep show cars have been personalised by Lapo Elkann's creative hub, including the two Renegade show cars created last year for the Montreux Jazz Festival, the two Renegade Uncharted Editions produced for the Swiss market and the Renegade Hell's Revenge showcased at the recent Harley-Davidson® 25th European H.O.G. Rally. A number that demonstrates the fruitful nature of the partnership and makes Jeep the automotive brand that can boast the greatest number of show cars created by GIC.

A successful musical adventure for the Jeep® brand at the 50th Montreux Jazz Festival :

Last Saturday, the 50th edition of the prestigious European music event, featuring the Jeep® brand as global partner for the second year running, came to its end. In sixteen days, over 240,000 visitors flocked to the beautiful Swiss town overlooking Lake Geneva to enjoy 380 live performances by the 250 international artists of the 2016 Montreux Jazz Festival program.
A very special edition, also marking the three-quarter-of-a-century celebrations for the legendary Jeep brand. To honor the unique occasion of two milestone birthdays, the American brand was present with 30 shuttle cars to transport the attending artists, including Lana del Rey, Herbie Hancock, Charles Lloyd, Monty Alexander, Quincy Jones, Air, Laurent Garnier, Maria Rita, Vanessa Da Mata, Hamilton De Holanda, João Bosco, Les Innocents, Steps Ahead, Gramatik, Dj Shadow, Randy Weston, John Mclaughlin, Al Jarreau, Patti Smith, ZZ Top, Young Thug, Shemekia Copeland, M83, PJ Harvey, Charles Bradley, Patti Austin, Lisa Simone, Jamie Cullum, Angélique Kidjo, Other Lives and FKJ.

A successful adventure for the Jeep brand, offering visitors and music enthusiasts branded hospitality at the various Jeep corners on the lake shore and totaling almost 400 test drives of its entire range of SUVs.
In addition, nearly 800 visitors interacted with the Jeep Vinyl Booth  -the immersive music experience that allowed the audience to travel across time through 75 years of Jeep brand history, while the four live concerts performed at the Terrace Le Jardin by the four young music talents, Paul Plexi, Amy Yon; King and the duo Funkstörung were followed live on Facebook by 1.5 million users, for a total of 184 hours of video views.

Highly appreciated by the public were the three show cars created by the Jeep brand in collaboration with Garage Italia Customs as a special birthday gift to honor the first 50 years of the Festival and the world of music in general: the Jeep Cherokee Jazz, boasting a unique customization inspired by the wood of the guitar; the Jeep Renegade Vinyl, presenting a special livery reproducing the circles on the surface of vinyl records with a 3D-effect; and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Score paying homage to the musical scores. Revealed on July 1 at the opening of the Festival, the three one-offs were displayed at the most significant locations of Montreux Jazz Festival: the Grand Cherokee Score was showcased at the Main Entrance Hall to the main stage at the Auditorium Stravinski, the Jeep Renegade Vinyl was the star of Montreux Jazz Café and the Cherokee Jazz was the displayed at Montreux Jazz Chalet. Known also as "Le Picotin", the legendary chalet belonging to Claude Nobs, the founder of the Festival, is a true must-see venue for any music lover.

The Festival closed its 50th edition featuring on stage the Deep Purple: a group closely related to Montreaux through one of their most famous songs "Smoke on the Water". The timeless track was inspired by a headline-making event which took place in 1971: a fire which blazed in the Swiss city Casino during a Frank Zappa concert. Claude Nobs saved a number of youths from the flames and Deep Purple commemorated this in the lyrics: "Funky Claude was running in and out pulling kids out the ground".

Form and functionality: the pillars of Jeep® design :

  • From thirteen-slots to the hallmark seven-slot grille: a design cue that provides the iconic 'face' of every Jeep model
  • For 75 years the signature elements of Jeep design have remained true to their roots

Form follows function - a fixed component of the Jeep's DNA since the very first vehicle, the one that started it all, the Willys, the original Jeep. When we look at Jeep design we immediately acknowledge that the style of every model includes key elements that are well defined and clearly identifiable. True representative aesthetic features, such as the round headlights, 7-slotted grille, trapezoidal wheel-arches and vertical windshield, belong to collective imagination and make a vehicle retaining them immediately recognizable as a 'Jeep'.

The vertical-slotted grille and the trapezoidal wheel arches in particular are design elements dating back seventy-five years that can be seen in almost every Jeep vehicle today. The traditional ventilation slits, that in the Jeep language are called slots, were introduced in the first Willys-Overland MA in the early-'40s when Willys Overland together with American Bantam and Ford answered the call of the US Army and designed the first prototypes of off-road vehicles. In this milestone vehicle, forefather to all Jeep models coming afterwards, the grille was made up of vertical bars. Ford introduced the stamped steel 9-slot grille on their prototype models. The US Army preferred the latter version and it was standardized on all MB and Ford GP models.
After the war, with the introduction of the CJ-2A (1945) produced for civilian purposes, Willys-Overland introduced the classic 7 slot grille. As a matter of fact, one of the licensing requirements for the Civilian Jeep was that the vehicle had larger headlights in comparison to the military one. To make room for the larger headlights, the outer slots were removed and 7 were left to form the grille.
Since then, all CJ models have featured the 7 slot grille while many other classic Jeep models, including the Willys Wagon, the Jeep pick-up, the Wagoneer and the Cherokee, used vertical slots but with a number varying from 8 to 13. The only exceptions were the FC series and the 1966 - 1973 Jeepster models featuring 7 slots. Since 1998, all Jeep models have sported the iconic 7 slot grille.

There are also many legends regarding the seven-slots in the Jeep grille: some say it is for the seven wonders of the natural world or because a Jeep vehicle was the first to uphold seven continents, for the seven seas, the seven summits, the seven pillars of wisdom, the colours of the rainbow or maybe the fact there are seven direction: up, down, right, left, forward, back and centre. But it doesn't really matter what inspired the choice of number 7 for the Jeep grille. What is really important is that for 75 years the Jeep brand has inspired men to dream and dare, to go further and explore every corner of the world and it will continue to inspire them to go beyond their limits and enjoy their spirit of freedom and the adventure that belong to every true Jeeper.

Another hallmark of Jeep design are the trapezoidal wheel-arches, which were necessary at the time to allow drivers to go off-road. As a matter of fact, by using trapezoidal wheel-arches the wheels had as much freedom as possible in their housing to tackle off-road trails and climb over rocks and most extreme obstacles.
There is an amusing story on how the trapezoidal wheel-arches were devised evolving from the protection metal sheet of the Willys. Initially, in fact, the first Jeep models had no protection sheets, which of course did not amused the passengers sitting in the back seat. According to terrain and weather conditions, they were exposed to a fountain of mud and sand, or bombarded with stones.
An American soldier with a natural tendency for handwork, pulled out the device for welding and welded a pair of hand-folded sheets. It doesn't matter whether this idea was really successful, it is the philosophy behind this anecdote that makes the story. Especially as far as the Wrangler is concerned: many details of the iconic Jeep express this concept very clearly. For example, the straps which define the opening angle of the doors. In other vehicles, these are made of metal. But the doors of the Wrangler are removable and therefore engineers had to find a different solution. The fabric bands are a typical clever solution that expresses the mind-set and lifestyle behind the word Jeep.

Also the bonnet hinges, are a distinctive Jeep design element. The Wrangler still features them today and their presence is not merely an ornament or a decoration: they are a technical element with a precise function and work exactly in the same way as they used to 75 years ago.

When these design elements are put together, the result is what makes the charm of a brand, the authenticity, as well as its consistency. By combining the 7-slot grille and the trapezoidal arches, designers do not need to add much more in their sketch, it is already a Jeep. In particular, when considering that these iconic design cues have been faithfully retained over a period of seventy-five years.

Jeep® Brand kicks off Jeep “Adventure Days” with “4x4ever” new TV commercial :

  • New Jeep® range spot will be on air starting today, September 1st, across Europe.
  • The commercial launches the brand's "Adventure Days", the promotional event to take place from September 1 to October 31 throughout European dealers.

Starting today, September 1st, the new Jeep® Brand TV commercial "4x4ever" will go on-air on the main TV channels throughout Europe. The spot focuses on the legendary 4x4 capability that represents the core of the Brand DNA and will officially kick off the Jeep "Adventure Days", the promotional event that gives Jeep customers and enthusiasts the chance to learn more about the Jeep world and its most awarded SUV range ever.

Broadcast in 30" and 15" formats, the spot celebrates the Jeep 75 Anniversary milestone, by paying tribute to the 4x4 legacy of the brand that invented the concept of "4x4", thus becoming synonymous with off-road driving.

In a custom music track created specifically for the brand and performed by Sony Music artist Morgan Dorr, member of the American pop rock band Boys Like Girls, "4x4ever" conveys the idea that 4x4 is more than challenging the extreme Rubicon and Moab trails. There is in fact a human aspect behind the vehicle's capability that is not only expressed by what a Jeep model can do but what the drivers dream to do. Those who own a Jeep vehicle, feel their ride offers endless possibilities and retain the strong self-belief that they can 'Go anywhere and Do anything'. Obstacles become something to relish and life is an adventure to be enjoyed to its fullest.

"4x4ever" is therefore a celebration of the unstoppable spirit that for 75 years has driven Jeep vehicles, as well as their drivers around the globe looking and pushing forward.

The commercial creative concept was developed by the advertising agency Leo Burnett. The new campaign will appear in press, radio and web and will debut in the major European countries according to their respective individual launch plan, from September 1 onwards concurrently with the Jeep Adventure Days.

Staged from September 1 to October 31 at the Jeep European showrooms throughout Europe, the Jeep "Adventure Days" is a unique opportunity to re-discover and test drive the entire Jeep range, its advanced engines, technology and unmatched off-road capabilities. During the two months of September and October, customers and brand's enthusiasts will be able to get to know better the Grand Cherokee, the most awarded SUV ever, the iconic Wrangler, which embodies the "Go anywhere, Do anything" claim, Cherokee, the Jeep with cutting-edge design that is true to tradition, and the new Renegade, the compact SUV which boasts the best off-road performance in its segment.

  • Introduction of the dual-dry clutch transmission (DDCT) paired to the efficient 1.6-litre Multijet II on Jeep Renegade

Over the last 75 years, Jeep® vehicles have defined the authentic 4x4 driving experience, setting the benchmark for off-road capability and freedom since the first vehicle rolled off the production line in 1941. This year, the Jeep brand is celebrating its 75th anniversary, an important milestone enhanced by the significant sale success achieved in the EMEA region where the brand recorded its 34th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth in August. To honor this landmark year, the brand returns to Paris International Motor Show to stage the introduction in the region of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Jeep flagship model and the most awarded SUV in history.

Revealed to the public at the New York Auto Show in March earlier this year, the new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been enhanced in terms of styling, standard premium content and trims. Further expanding the range of the most awarded SUV ever, the new Trailhawk model strengthens the off-road capability of Grand Cherokee by adding a host of specific off-road features, including the Quadra drive II 4x4 system with rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential, a unique version of the Quadra lift air suspension, for improved articulation and total suspension travel, as well as Selec-Speed Control with Hill Ascent Control.
The 2017 Grand Cherokee lineup also features an even more exclusive and premium top-of-the-range Summit model characterized by a more upscale, hand crafted optional leather-wrapped interior, a new exterior look and additional standard premium safety features. Also displayed for the first time in Paris is the 2017 model year of the high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT model, sporting exterior upgrades on the front fascia, fog lamps and grille.

On the Jeep stand at Paris Motor Show, two exclusive special edition models are displayed in preview for the European public: the Jeep Renegade Desert Hawk and Jeep Cherokee Night Eagle II. Further enhancing the offer of exclusive limited-edition trim levels designed around both the Jeep small and mid-size SUVs, the two models confirm that the natural flair for customization belongs to the entire Jeep lineup.

At this year's Paris Motor Show, the Jeep brand will also broaden the powertrain offer available on Jeep Renegade with the introduction of the dual-dry clutch transmission (DDCT) in combination with the efficient 1.6-litre Multijet II diesel engine and front wheel drive.

Two 'Moparized' vehicles, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and the Renegade Longitude, both upgraded with MoparONE pack will be displayed on the Jeep stand to introduce the all-new special, off-road customization package offered by Mopar and including specific off-road accessories and lift kit. These packages feature homologated accessories and will be soon available for sale at the Jeep dealerships across the EMEA region.

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the star of the Jeep stand in Paris. The new model year of the most awarded SUV ever features an updated style, with changes that give the front-end a more premium and aggressive appearance, thanks to the redesigned lower front fascia with new fog lights and signature Jeep seven-slot grille.

With the 2017 model year, the Jeep brand introduces the all-new Trailhawk trim level that will add further 4x4 prowess to the Jeep flagship, and will bring consistency in the Jeep range as already for the Cherokee and Renegade Trailhawk models. The new trim will highlight the legendary Jeep 4x4 capability by offering specific off-road features, combined to the premiumness, craftsmanship and advanced technological amenities of Grand Cherokee. At the same time, the refreshed Summit trim level, will enhance the refinement of the Jeep flagship model adding exclusive features in the cabin and in the standard vehicle's equipment. The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee will arrive in Jeep EMEA showrooms starting December 2016.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk

The Jeep brand introduced the "Trailhawk" name on the Grand Cherokee concept vehicle that first appeared at the 2012 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. The idea was to deliver a unique and more rugged appearance, with a host of functional features that resulted in an increased level of off-road 4x4 capability. The "Trailhawk" name officially moved to production with the introduction of the all-new Jeep Cherokee in 2013, as the most capable version of the new mid-size Jeep SUV, and continued with the Renegade, the small SUV launched in 2014. Today, the Trailhawk name completes the Grand Cherokee lineup adding a sixth model to the Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT trim levels available in the  Grand Cherokee range.

The Trailhawk exterior features a newly designed front fascia and seven-slot Jeep grille and Trailhawk unique, standard 18-inch Goodyear Adventure off-road tires with Kevlar reinforcement. The exterior look is further enhanced by new Trailhawk and Trail Rated badges with red accents, a Trailhawk-specific anti-glare hood decal, mirror caps and a roof rack with Neutral Gray accents. Standard skid plates and available Mopar Rock rails complete the exterior of the new Trailhawk trim level and deliver added protection when tackling extreme off-road trails.

Inside, Trailhawk models feature a unique Black interior with leather and suede performance seats, red accent stitching on the seats, doors and console, brushed Piano Black appliques and gun-metal finish on all painted interior parts. A Trailhawk badge on the steering wheel completes the interior of the new Trailhawk trim level. Also standard is the 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen with updated off-road pages showing wheel articulation and other vehicle 4x4 capability features, such as suspension height and 4x4 and Selec-Terrain modes.

Grand Cherokee Trailhawk models are equipped with a host of standard off-road capability features, including standard Quadra-Lift air suspension - developed for Trailhawk - that offers improved articulation and total suspension travel, as well as upgraded Selec-Speed Control with Hill Ascent Control that allows the driver to control the speed of the vehicle, both uphill and downhill, using the steering wheel paddle shifters instead of requiring the use of the accelerator or brake pedals.

Approach angles on the Jeep Grand Cherokee are 29.8 degrees, while the breakover angle is 27.1 degrees and the departure angle is 22.8 degrees. Grand Cherokee Trailhawk models offer up to 10.8 inches of ground clearance.

The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk on display in Paris will be sporting a Granite Crystal exterior and black leather and suede seats and is powered by the efficient 3.0-litre Multijet II 250 HP engine matched with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit

The Summit trim level represents the top of the range model and offers the highest level of sophistication featuring a new look with an updated front fascia, grille and LED fog lamps, and new 20-inch polished 5 spoke aluminum wheels.
In the cabin, an optional new full-wrap Laguna leather interior in the two color combination of Indigo and Ski Gray is one of four color schemes featured on the new Summit. The new interior also boasts a Nappa leather-wrapped dashboard, center console and door panels, and Laguna leather seats with edge welting.
Exclusive feature found on the Summit model is a nineteen-speaker, 825-watt high-performance Harman Kardon surround sound audio system. This state-of-the-art system features a twelve-channel amplifier, three sub-woofers and surrounds the occupants in high-definition sound.
Other Summit interior colors are Black, Brown and Dark Sienna Brown. All Summit models come equipped with a suede premium headliner, lighted door sill, acoustic windshield and full side glass, Active Noise Cancellation system and premium Berber carpet mats.
An array of technological and safety features are also standard on the 2017 Grand Cherokee Summit, including Lane Departure Warning, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist and Trailer Hitch Camera View.
In details, Lane Departure Warning includes a forward-mounted camera that detects and measures the vehicle's position within a lane. If the driver does not respond to the warnings, Lane Keep Assist will help gently nudge the vehicle back into the lane by applying corrective steering input.
Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, on the other hand, is an advanced system that recognizes openings and prompts the driver with commands on how to park in a space by pushing a button to engage the ultrasonic sensors for parking assistance. Jeep Renegade

Launched exactly two years ago, Jeep Renegade is the model that most of all is leading the brand to record-breaking sales results at both EMEA and European level. Almost 330,000 Renegade have come off the production line as of August 31st, giving an important contribution in building up the brand's spectacular commercial success. In 24 months, the Jeep small SUV has been firmly climbing up the sales charts in many countries, including Italy - the first market for Renegade in the region - the UK, France, Spain and Austria.
During the first eight months of 2016, 51,300 Jeep Renegade were sold in Europe, with a 47,1% increase versus the same period in 2015. A success story, further confirming the Jeep small SUV's leading role as top-selling model of the brand in the European market. Top countries for Renegade sales in the region are Italy (22,800 units), the UK (7,200 units) and France (6,000 units).

Jeep Renegade Desert Hawk

Based on the Trailhawk trim, the new Jeep Renegade Desert Hawk limited-edition model was inspired by one of the most extreme locations where the legendary off-road capability of Jeep vehicles as well as the freedom of going beyond the known limits to venture into unexplored territories that is in the brand's DNA are expressed at their best.
As a matter of fact, in the Jeep language, the name 'Hawk' suggests a unique and more rugged appearance, with functional features that deliver an increased level of 4x4 performance. First of all the unique hood decal, featuring the outline of a map and the US Army Star decal located on the vehicle's side close to its rear end are both styling cues introduced specifically for this limited-edition model. A Matte Black front grille and 17" Black Aluminium wheels also contribute to enhance the distinctive look of this vehicle. Further exterior appointments characterizing the Desert Hawk are the off-road skid plates, the rear tow hook and the 'Deserthawk' logo on the driver's door.
The tribute to the desert is also suggested by the exclusive Mojave Sand exterior that reminds of the distinctive color of the sand, sported by the vehicle on display in Paris.

The interior of the new special edition model features Black leather and cloth seats enhanced by White accent stitching and "Deserthawk" logo embroidered on the upper portion of the backrests. Standard equipment includes front and rear parking sensor, dual-zone automatic climate control, premium instrument cluster with 7" TFT color display, tire pressure monitoring system and cruise control. In addition, the Renegade Desert Hawk features UConnect system touchscreen radio with 6.5" color display, standard navigation and the new embedded Jeep Skills application that provides real time information on the driving performance and perfectly fits with the mission of this new limited-edition model: to allow the driver to understand the legendary Jeep off-road capability while being up with the times.
Optional features available on the Desert Hawk are the My Sky roof with removable panels for an authentic open-air driving experience, the Parkview rear camera and the 9 speaker Premium audio system by BeatsTM.
With its distinctive, aggressive look, standard special off-road equipment including the Jeep Active Drive Low system with 20:1 crawl ratio, Selec-Terrain system with exclusive Rock mode and Hill descent control, the Desert Hawk stands out as the most capable Renegade model and the most capable small SUV in its category for off-road driving. It will be introduced in the Jeep dealerships across Europe starting November, with the 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel featuring 170 HP and the 9-speed automatic gearbox. Available exterior colors in addition to Mojave Sand are Anvil, Solid Black and Alpine White.

1.6-litre Multijet II engine with Dual Dry-Clutch six-speed automatic transmission (DDCT)

In Paris, the Renegade powertrain offer will be further extended thanks to the introduction of the Dual Dry-Clutch six-speed automatic transmission (DDCT) on the efficient 1.6-litre Multjet II engine with Stop&Start. The new engine-transmission combination will be available only on Renegade models featuring the front-wheel-drive configuration starting end of November across Europe.

The new gearbox will be made available on the most popular and sold Renegade engine in the region - the 1.6-litre Multijet II diesel engine delivering 120 horsepower - and thanks to its efficient fuel economy ratings and low CO2 emissions, respectively 4.5 l/100 km and 118 g/km (combined cycle), it will satisfy customers' more diverse needs being the perfect choice for both private and company cars drivers.

Formerly mated only with the 1.4-liter MultiAir2 Turbo engine of the Renegade, DDCT uses two clutches to connect the engine and transmission rather than one. Using two clutches makes it possible to carry out "power shifts" without any break in power transmitted to the ground because the ratios of the second half-gearbox are synchronized while the first is in operation. This means that the transmission of torque to the wheels is not interrupted - even during gearshifts, resulting in improved vehicle performance and driving comfort.

Jeep Cherokee Night Eagle II special-edition model

Designed to enhance the already bold design of Jeep Cherokee, the 'Night Eagle II' special-edition model will be based on the Limited trim level, and will feature a special aesthetic treatment with black styling cues to enhance the aggressive look and sporty character of the Jeep mid-size SUV. Building on the commercial success of the Night Eagle special edition presented exactly one year ago at Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Night Eagle II limited-edition model reasserts Cherokee's audacious personality and unique flair for customization through a distinctive style conveyed by several dark design elements and glossy black accents on the exterior. These include the front 'Jeep' badge, Black DLO, grille surrounds and front fascia applique, Black Gloss roof bars, 18" painted wheel with Gloss Black finish and Black 'Jeep' and '4x4' badges. The exterior is completed by a dedicated Night Eagle badge. In the cabin, the comprehensive standard equipment available includes Black interiors, premium Nappa Leather-trimmed heated and ventilated bucket seats, eight-way power driver seat with four-way power driver lumbar adjust, 7-inch full-color, TFT reconfigurable instrument cluster, Uconnect radio with navigation and 8.4-inch touchscreen, 506-watt Alpine audio with nine speakers and subwoofer and two-zone climate control system.

Sporting a Black exterior and black leather interior, the Cherokee Night Eagle II displayed on the Jeep stand in Paris offers a complete standard equipment, including bi-xenon headlamps, Parkview rear backup camera, Park Sense front and rear park assist, automatic headlights and rain sensor, power liftgate and folding mirrors. An array of advanced safety features is also included in this special-edition model, such as Lanesense Lane Departure Warning, full-speed Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop&Go, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection and ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist. The CommandView® dual-pane sunroof completes the list of features.
The Night Eagle II is powered by a 2.2-litre Multijet II 200 HP engine offered in combination with the 9-speed automatic transmission and Active Drive I 4x4 system. It will be available in five exterior colors, including Black, White, Billet Silver, Granite Crystal and Deep Cherry Red starting December across Europe.

Jeep Stand

The Jeep exhibition area is characterized by clean shapes that outline an essential, contemporary structure featuring the multiple terrains where Jeep vehicles can express their character at their best: in the city as well as on extreme off-road trails. The use of finely crafted, natural materials, such as wood and stone, suggests a setting that is a combination between a wild outdoor landscape and a sophisticate urban environment, thus hinting at the two 'souls' in the DNA of the brand: the core, rugged soul that belongs to Wrangler and the more premium and refined one, expressed by the flagship Grand Cherokee.
The technological and innovative soul of the Jeep brand is emphasized with large LED wall surfaces featuring videos of the Jeep brand and its models. A corner dedicated to Uconnect LIVE, will host an interactive totem where visitors can test its connected services and live the Jeep Skills experience thanks to the Oculus technology and 360-degrees videos.
In the middle of the stand a dedicated area will host the 'Moparized' Wrangler Rubicon with MoparONE pack and an array of 'virtual' activities dedicated to surfing. The 'surfing corner', characterized by a floor featuring a special 'sand' effect and contrasting with the stone floor under the wooden bridge, will offer visitors the chance to enjoy the "Jeep Ride" game designed to support the surfing competitions of the prestigious World Surf League (WSL) men's and women's 2016 Championship Tour (CT) taking place in Portugal and France and starring the Jeep brand as the WSL's exclusive automotive Global Partner for the second year running.

A selection of exclusive accessories and genuine Jeep spare parts made in collaboration with Mopar will be showcased in a dedicated corner of the exhibition area.

Lastly, through illustrative materials and dedicated publications handed out at the stand, visitors will be introduced to the products of FCA Bank, a financing company specialized in the automotive sector. The company operates in the main European markets - and in France with FCA Capital France - with only one mission: to support the automotive sales of all FCA brand vehicles by offering innovative financial products with high added-value services targeted to the dealer network, private customers and companies.
